Before you head out for the Gadsden Christmas Parade on Monday, December 5, leave early and plan to eat dinner with us. In addition to the Imagination Place Chili Supper, the Hardin Center is presenting a Pre-Christmas Parade Show at 5 pm. The Chili Supper will last from 5 until 8 pm.

“We are very excited about the Christmas Parade this year,” said Mary G. There will also be a special winter surprise coming from the top of center that night!”

Members of the Downtown Dance Conservatory are performing as well as some music and voice students. The show is outside and free to all who come. The Chili Supper is located in the Recital Hall and tickets are $5. All proceeds benefit Imagination Place.

Gadsden State Community College and Gadsden Cultural Arts Announce Film Movement Collaboration

Gadsden State Community College is collaborating with the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation / Hardin Center for Cultural Arts on Film Movement/Gadsden.

“Film Movement/Gadsden” is a project of Gadsden State Community College and Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation's Centerstage Presents.  The GCAF, a 501 (c) (3) organization, also operates the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts and its numerous programs.

Centerstage presents… is the presenting arm of the GCAF, and sponsored 107 events in 2004.  The committee recognized the need for a film series in northeast Alabama, and in 2004 formed a task force.  In May 2004, the GCAF formed a partnership with Gadsden State Community College to further explore the possibilities of film.  The committee joined the national Film Movement and had 5 films reviewed by members of the community.  The 3o+ member organization of Gadsden Young Professionals was especially excited about the project and is willing to assist with promotion and film selection.

Bobby Welch , GCAF Director; Charles Hill, Dean of Fine Arts, Gadsden State; and MD Garmon, a USC film graduate and retired community leader, head the film project.  The committee is collaborating with Alabama's nationally recognized Sidewalk Film Festival.  The Sidewalk Film Festival has the desire to take their show on the road, and with the assistance of this grant we will be able to offer a venue for Sidewalk Film Festival/Gadsden during the GRITS Festival, September 17, 2005.

The Jam for Duane 2004 and
The Imagination Place Fall Fest 2004

This past weekend at the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts you could find a little bit of everything - except for a dull moment. Starting Thursday, the Center hosted the Jam for Duane which ended in an all-day jam session on Saturday from 1 PM to 1 AM. Then, the very next day, the Imagination Place held their annual Fall Fest Extravaganza which featured an afternoon of fun games, activities, and more for local children and their parents. Thanks to all of the fans and musicians who made the Jam for Duane a smashing success! We'd also like to thank all of the wonderful volunteers, parents, children, and sponsors who made the 2004 Fall Fest such a blast!
