EYO to Host Two Strings Camps This Summer
The EYO’s twelfth annual Summer Strings Camp will be held June 21st - 25th in Symphony Hall at the Hardin Center. The camp, which will meet daily for one week, will be from 8:30 am - 12 pm each day and is under the direction of EYO Associate Conductor Roland Lister. The Summer Strings Camp is designed for students who have completed one year of string training, but have no more than two years of experience. The camp's mission is to reinforce basic technical skills, develop ensemble playing skills, and stimulate the students' desire to continue playing a string instrument.
The cost of the camp is $75.00 per student, and includes all music and materials, with the exception of instruments. The camp fee also includes a light snack each day and will conclude with a free public performance by Summer Strings campers on Friday, June 25, at 1 PM in Symphony Hall.
A new addition to the EYO’s summer programs is the first-ever Electric Strings Camp. The Electric Strings camp is designed for students with a minimum of three years playing experience, and will focus on playing techniques for amplified instruments, instruction on the use of equipment for the instruments, and development of diverse playing styles, including jazz and rock. The Electric Strings Camp and will be led by EYO Music Director Mike Gagliardo and EYO Associate Conductor Roland Lister. The camp will meet daily for one week from being July 12th - 16th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. The cost of the $125.00 per student, and includes all music and materials, use of the EYO’s electric string instruments, and a light snack each day. The camp will conclude with a free public performance on Friday, July 16, at 1 PM. Electric Strings Camp is limited to 10 violins/violas, 2 cellos, and 2 basses.
Financial assistance is available for those needing assistance to participate in the Summer Strings Camps. Registration for the camps will begin at the CCA on May 1.
